September 28, 2023 was the epitome of the adage “many hands make light work” for a 50 tree planting at WVU Potomac State College in Keyser, West Virginia. The 50 evergreen trees were planted around the school’s baseball field to help decrease runoff. The turnout for the planting day was a record high for Potomac State College with the baseball team and students from the Anthropology and Biology departments showing up to help get the trees planted.
Biology Professor and Project Leader, Vicki Huffman explained “the large number and variety of volunteers we had was very memorable. We were hopeful that a large number would turn out due to the large number of trees we had, and they didn’t disappoint.” Cacapon Institute is looking forward to the next planting with Potomac State College.
