Spring 2019, Warm Springs Watershed Association (WSWA) hosted a YourBMP program watershed-wide. The Project Leader, Michael Brookes, recruited and organized interested participants that purchased trees for their homes and businesses. This was WSWA’s second season participating in YourBMP’s Turf-to-Tree program, allowing residents 1-3 large stock trees, and businesses a maximum of twelve large stock trees.
Twelve watershed residents and Sheetz participated. Each resident purchased 1-3 trees to plant at their homes, Sheetz purchased twelve trees to plant at their newly built gas station in Berkeley Springs. On April 30th, Participants and community members came together to participate in a tree planting demonstration led by Cacapon Institute, followed by the community helping to plant the trees purchased by Sheetz.
