For the spring 2021 planting season, the Charles Town Tree Board hosted a Carla Hardy WV CommuniTree planting at Evitts Run Park in Charles Town, West Virginia. The Project Leader, Tanner Haid, asynchronously recruited and organized interested participants to plant 16 native trees at the local community park.
In total, 17 families participated in the project, including 40 adults and 32 youth volunteers planting their trees between April 17 – April 25.
The planting was an amazing success and a hit throughout the entire community! Some of the families who volunteered exclaimed that they “loved being out as a family in the community” and look forward to visiting Evitts Run Park even more!
Some other quotes from families involved:
“I love trees, and they just make me feel happy so I was happy to get to plant one in such a special place in my family’s history and hearts.”
“This is a park my children have enjoyed. All of us grew up in Charles Town/Ranson so seeing the changes made to the park for its betterment are important to us.”
